 Track Design for 2007

Version 3!

Hows this!

A bit more technical now

Some time ago we suggested a little competition to name sections of the track (a la Brands or Silverstone). So here are some suggestions........... Take an imaginary lap of the track (you can trace with your finger and go brmm brmm).

We start on Park Straight and take Jump 1 and brake before turning left at Park Bend then the right, Upson Hairpin.   Accelerate up Triple Straight and over the triple (Jump 2) then the long right at Ivychurch onto Church Straight and over Jump 3 (the table top in construction). Right at Lydd 1 and down Lydd Straight over the rumbles to Brenzett Hairpin, up, & over more rumbles, Brenzett Straight to the left hander at Lydd 2.

Along Airport Straight, over Jump 4 to the left hand Hanger Hairpin, blat over Jump5 on Romney Straight to the right Romney Hairpin and along the short Queen Straight to Queens, the left hander leading down to the Quinns Complex before the long fast Lewis Curve, tripping over Jump 6 along the way. Jump 7 is next on Widow's Bend before the curving Wolfsbane leads you onto Thunder Straight.

The last corner is The Spoon, a fast hairpin leading back onto the Park Straight, or in my case, the Pit Lane for repairs.

Remember the back straight is about 8ms wide and the narrow bits of the track are 5ms wide. Overall it neasures approx 65 ms x 58 ms.

Version 2 in case you were wondering!......

Well..........what can we say, our first year survived!!

A big hand to the Thunder Road Team, its definitely been a year to remember. A few ups and downs,

but back to business....................

The original track was designed with a view to evolving. We have seen what works and what doesn't.

We have had some great feedback, so now Brian and Tim have come up with this.......

Remember, this is only a proposed layout.

It was suggested on the forum we could make this into a bit of a competition.

Download the pic and see what you can come up with.

We want to keep the basic shape, but bends can be widened  and jumps etc can be moved (hard work though!) bridges can be added.

All sensible suggestions will be posted on the website and  an overall winner will get to see some or all of their ideas made into the  track's new features. We could soon have Dans double, Jacks corner!

Go on give it a Bash!!
