Track Design

This has been through some really interesting changes since we started! For the most recent track layout please follow the link

New Track Layout

For the time being the pits are open air, adjacent to the track so its case of bringing a table / workbench with you, a car parking area is opposite so at least its not a long trek with loads of gear lol!

Location & How to Find Us

Thunder Road is located in Ivychurch, Kent on a large plot of farmland. Ivycurch is a quick trip down the A2070 Ashford bypass making it easy to access via the M20 - For those with GPS the postcode is TN29 0AW and for those without try multimap :-) There's a detailed map and directions on the contact us page.

Rules

Thunder Roads main aim is for bashers and racers to have fun, enjoy the hobby / sport and above all be safe whilst doing it, to this end there are no more rules than needed to achieve this without drowning everyone in rules and regs :-)

General Track Rules....

  • Crystals / Frequencies: Please bring at least three pairs of crystals, this reduces crystal clashes and means you can spend more time on the track and less waiting for your frequency to become available.
  • People on The Track: The only people allowed on the track are the marshalls, they should remain at their points until required to step in and check the path is clear before doing so. No one under 16 can marshall and they must find a stand in, this is mainly for insurance reasons and on a similar note the stand in must have BRCA insurance also.
  • Insurance: Everyone wishing to race or bash must be a member of the BRCA, the cost is minimal and the benefits are great including 3rd party liability insurance
  • A Place for Everything and Everything in it's Place: This rule is more common sense than anything else... Models should only be ran on the track and not the surrounding area, likewise people, tools etc belong off the track.
  • Keep it Clean: There will be bins provided - use them!
  • Mind the language: The odd damn and blast is fine but turning the air blue with f this and f that isn't....

Bash Days

Bash days have very few additional rules as these are a pure fun day event - basically its a case of enjoying the hobby, being safe, and not allowing your own driving to have a negative effect.on others. I.E. if you and a few mates want to play tag then fair enough but don't take anyone else out in the process lol!

  • Track Availability: The track can support 10 - 15 models at a time and track use will be allocated in 30 min slots if busy, this gives everyone an even opportunity to run.
  • Marshalls: If your waiting for your crystal to become available it would be helpful if you'd take a turn and like wise if you've just finished on the track why not cover the people who've just marshalled?
  • Fair Play: Some bumps and bangs are to be expected but anyone deliberately running others off the track is not on..
  • Disputes: If anyone has a problem with another driver, technically or similar please talk to one of the Thunder Road Team and it will be sorted in the best possible way.
